Last year, Holland got a 2nd and a 3rd for Brendan Smith. Rangers then went all 1999 and gave him a big contract they wish they could have back. I expect a few questionable trades to happen before the deadline.
GMs pretend to play it all cool and be conservative. Then panic at the last minute and make a deal with the devil. Then they justify it with some BS reasoning like "well if we didn't then someone else would've." |

Hawks have quietly been in sell mode for a while now.
It was only a matter of time before Kempny was moved. Don't think he got a fair shake here with Blackhawks. Hopefully he does well with Capitals.
Good on Stan Bowman for jumping ahead of the deadline deals to move Kempny. The value for him could have dropped or Caps could have found depth elsewhere.

No, originally they were far apart in contract talks which Gudbranson camp sent out feelers elsewhere. Canucks don't want to lose him so they are ponying up to benefit Gudbranson. |
